Description

You are probably not looking for a Motor Trade Account Executive role just to start from scratch, fight internally for market access, and spend 12 months proving yourself before you can really earn.

If you know the motor trade insurance market well, have a track record of handling clients properly, and want a role where you inherit an existing book as well as having strong placement support behind you, this is worth a look.

We are working on a confidential appointment for a Motor Trade Account Executive in a national, home-based role. It would suit someone who is already established in commercial broking, understands the realities of the motor trade sector, and wants more room to build without taking unnecessary risk.

The opportunity

  • This is not a blank-page producer role.
  • There is an existing book of motor trade clients to inherit, giving you a base to work from from day one. Alongside that, you will have access to wide placement options in the market, which matters if you are tired of trying to force good clients into limited facilities or having to apologise for a lack of broking leverage.
  • You will be trusted to manage and grow relationships properly, not just keep activity levels up for the sake of it. The role is home-based and national, so it gives you the freedom to work in a grown-up way while still being backed by a substantial broking platform.

What the role involves

  • You will take ownership of an existing portfolio of motor trade insurance clients and develop it over time, while also identifying and converting new business where there is a genuine fit.
  • This is a client-facing Account Executive role, so the focus is on advice, relationship management, placement strategy and commercial growth.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and retain an inherited book of motor trade clients
  • Handle renewals, remarkets and mid-term client strategy where needed
  • Develop new business opportunities across the motor trade sector
  • Advise clients on programme design, cover, risk issues and market options
  • Work closely with internal broking and placement teams to secure the right outcomes
  • Build long-term relationships with insurers and underwriting contacts
  • Identify opportunities to cross-sell and deepen client relationships where appropriate
  • Maintain strong technical and regulatory standards across your portfolio

Who this role could suit

  • This will appeal to a few different profiles.
  • You might already be a Motor Trade Account Executive and want better market access, a stronger platform and more confidence around what you can offer clients.
  • You might be an experienced Account Handler or Development Executive in the motor trade space who is ready for a more outward-facing role and wants a proper platform behind them.
  • Or you may simply be doing good work in the right sector but feel boxed in by limited insurer reach, slow decisions, or too much internal noise.

Why this business

  • The attraction here is fairly clear.
  • You get the backing of a sizeable insurance business with strong placement capability, but the role itself still gives you the autonomy and trust that experienced motor trade professionals usually want.
  • Just as importantly, you are not being asked to manufacture a book from nothing. There is something real to inherit, build on and improve.
  • For the right person, that reduces the risk of moving while still giving genuine upside.

Salary and benefits

  • Salary from £55,000 to £80,000
  • Home-based, national remit
  • Inherited book of clients
  • Strong market access and placement options
  • Long-term opportunity to grow within a substantial broking platform

The next step

If you know the motor trade insurance market and want to explore a home-based Account Executive role with an existing book and real support behind it, let's have a conversation.
