- Description
If you are already trusted with a sizeable commercial insurance book and have reached the point where growth feels harder than it should, this will be worth a proper look. This is a Senior Account Executive role in Leeds with an established book to inherit, genuine market backing and the sort of platform that gives a good commercial broker more room to win, retain and build long-term client relationships properly.
This is not a role built around starting from scratch. There is an existing portfolio of commercial clients to take on, develop and protect, alongside the support, market access and internal resource you would expect in a well-backed broking business. It would suit an experienced Account Executive who enjoys new business and can spot an opening, but who also understands that long-term income and reputation are built through advice, credibility and steady account development rather than noise.
The opportunity
You would be joining a commercial broking environment with real momentum in Yorkshire, taking over an inherited book while being given the freedom to grow it in a sensible way. For the right person, that creates a much more balanced proposition than the usual promise of "warm leads" and a blank page.
The client base is broad enough to keep the role interesting and commercially varied. You will be dealing with businesses that expect proper advice, responsive service and a broker who can hold a credible conversation around risk, cover structure and insurer appetite. This is a role for someone who wants to build a durable income stream and become a recognised commercial insurance adviser in the Leeds market, rather than just chase numbers quarter by quarter.
What the role involves
- You will inherit an existing portfolio of commercial clients and take ownership of those relationships from the outset.
- Alongside that, you will be expected to identify growth opportunities across the book and bring in additional commercial insurance business through your own network, referrals and market activity.
- You will work closely with broking and servicing colleagues internally, but this is a client-facing Account Executive role.
- The value you bring will come from your ability to win trust, handle renewals strategically, negotiate effectively with insurers and convert opportunities without damaging the quality of the relationship.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and develop an inherited book of commercial insurance clients
- Retain and grow existing accounts through strong advice, cross-sale and relationship management
- Generate new business across the Leeds and wider Yorkshire market
- Handle client meetings, renewal strategy and insurer negotiations
- Identify opportunities across core commercial insurance lines and wider risk needs
- Work closely with internal broking, claims and support teams to deliver a high standard of service
- Build a strong reputation in the local market as a trusted commercial insurance adviser
Who this role could suit
- An experienced Commercial Account Executive, Senior Account Executive or Client Director in the general insurance market
- A broker with a stable track record in commercial insurance and a good reputation with clients and insurers
- Someone who wants a book to inherit rather than a pure scratch role
- A Leeds or West Yorkshire based insurance professional who knows the local market, or can develop it quickly
- A commercially minded broker who can balance new business with retention and account development
- An Account Executive who values market access, internal support and the credibility of a grown-up broking proposition
You do not need to be the loudest person in the room. You do need to be credible, capable and able to build confidence with clients who expect their broker to know what they are talking about.
