- Description
Take ownership of an established commercial insurance portfolio worth £200,000 to £250,000 in annual brokerage income, developing relationships with existing clients while identifying opportunities to grow the book. You'll be working with mid-corporate businesses, handling meaningful client relationships and building on an established base rather than starting from scratch.
This opportunity is with an established commercial insurance broker, ideally based in Chelmsford, although candidates in Watford, Ipswich and London will also be considered. The portfolio includes a significant proportion of fleet and haulage business, alongside other commercial risks, with individual accounts typically generating £5,000 to £30,000 in annual brokerage income.
The opportunity
- Inherit an established portfolio generating approximately £200,000 to £250,000 in annual brokerage income, giving you an immediate client base to manage and develop.
- Take responsibility for relationships with mid-corporate clients, understanding their businesses, reviewing their insurance arrangements and ensuring their changing requirements are addressed.
- Work with a portfolio weighted towards motor fleet and haulage, alongside a broader mix of commercial insurance risks.
- Manage key renewal discussions, working with broking colleagues and insurers to negotiate appropriate terms and retain important accounts.
- Develop additional business from existing relationships through referrals, cross-selling and identifying opportunities where clients need broader insurance protection.
- Work towards a 10% growth target, balancing the retention and development of your existing book with new business opportunities.
- Build long-term relationships with business owners and decision-makers, becoming their main point of contact for commercial insurance advice.
Who would suit it?
- You'll have experience as a Commercial Insurance Account Executive, or a similar client-facing broking role, with confidence managing commercial client relationships.
- You'll be comfortable dealing with mid-corporate accounts and discussing insurance arrangements with business owners and senior decision-makers.
- You'll understand the importance of retaining existing clients while identifying opportunities to grow a portfolio.
- Experience with motor fleet or haulage insurance would be useful, but a specialist background in these areas isn't essential. Strong general commercial insurance experience is equally relevant.
- You'll be commercially minded, organised and confident working towards a realistic portfolio growth objective.
- You'll enjoy having an established book to work with, while still having the opportunity to develop new relationships and increase your account income.
The package
- Basic salary of £60,000 to £75,000, depending on experience.
- £5,000 car allowance.
