Description

You would be joining an established PI broking team with a nationwide client base and a strong track record across professional risks. The team handles business for a broad mix of professions, including financial planners, architects, engineers, chartered surveyors and other regulated and non-regulated businesses, so this is a good opportunity for someone who wants more technical exposure without moving away from client servicing.

The opportunity

This is a hands-on Professional Indemnity Account Handler position where you will support the management and renewal of an existing portfolio, working closely with experienced Account Executives and specialist PI colleagues.

The business has an established Bristol presence and combines specialist professional risks expertise with the wider resources of a sizeable UK broking group. That gives the team access to broader insurer relationships, additional technical expertise and specialist claims support, while retaining the feel of a focused regional operation.

For someone who enjoys PI but feels their current role has become too transactional, there should be enough variety here to continue developing technically and take more ownership of client relationships over time.

What the role involves

You will support clients throughout the full policy cycle, from renewal preparation and market presentation through to negotiation, placement and ongoing servicing.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing renewals and mid-term adjustments across a portfolio of Professional Indemnity clients.
  • Preparing renewal information and submissions for insurers.
  • Obtaining, reviewing and comparing terms from the market.
  • Working with Account Executives and clients to make sure cover reflects the underlying professional risk.
  • Handling client queries and maintaining regular contact throughout the policy period.
  • Liaising with insurers and underwriters on terms, endorsements and coverage queries.
  • Maintaining accurate broking records and ensuring documentation is completed properly.
  • Supporting the wider team with new business enquiries where required.
  • Developing your technical understanding of PI wordings, exposures and insurer appetite.

Who this role could suit

  • You may already be working as a Professional Indemnity Account Handler, Broker, Account Manager or Technician and want to move into a more specialist environment.
  • Previous PI experience would be particularly useful, although someone with broader commercial or financial lines broking experience and a genuine interest in specialising could also be relevant.
  • You should be comfortable dealing with both clients and insurers, able to understand more technical policy issues and confident managing your own workload without needing every decision escalated.
  • Knowledge of professions such as architects, engineers, surveyors, consultants, financial advisers or other professional services businesses would be useful, but it does not need to cover every area from day one.

Why consider it

  • The attraction is the specialist nature of the team. Professional Indemnity is not simply one product among dozens here, and there is genuine depth of experience around you.
  • The wider business also has specialist financial lines and claims capability, including Professional Indemnity, Directors & Officers, Cyber and Commercial Crime. That broader expertise gives someone in this role the opportunity to understand professional risks in more depth and potentially widen their experience as their career develops.

Salary and benefits

  • The salary is £30,000 to £40,000 depending on your existing Professional Indemnity experience and technical level.
  • Alongside the salary, the role offers the chance to develop within an established specialist broking environment where there is room to build both your technical knowledge and your level of responsibility.
