Head of Schemes

Role Purpose
The Head of Schemes is responsible for the strategic development, performance, and governance of the MGA's schemes portfolio. This role leads the identification, onboarding, and management of delegated authority schemes, ensuring profitable growth, strong broker and capacity relationships, and full compliance with regulatory and insurer requirements.

Key Responsibilities


  • Strategy & Growth

    • Define and execute the schemes strategy aligned with overall business objectives.
    • Identify and develop new scheme opportunities across target sectors and distribution channels.
    • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective partners, including brokers, affinity groups, and introducers.

  • Scheme Performance Management

    • Own P&L performance across all schemes, ensuring delivery against underwriting and financial targets.
    • Monitor scheme KPIs including loss ratios, conversion, retention, and commission income.


Key Skills & Experience


  • Significant experience within the UK insurance market, ideally within an MGA or delegated authority environment.
  • Strong understanding of schemes, affinity business, and delegated underwriting models.
  • Proven track record of delivering profitable growth and managing P&L responsibility.
  • Established network of broker and insurer relationships in the London market.
  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
  • Solid understanding of FCA regulation and compliance requirements.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to build and manage high-performing teams.
