- Description
If you have built a grounding in commercial insurance, already understand real estate risks and now want the opportunity to develop into a genuine Account Executive role, this could be a very good next step.
You will be joining the first London office of an established Midlands brokerage with a strong reputation in real estate and commercial insurance. That gives you the benefit of joining a recognised business at an early stage of its London growth, with the opportunity to build your own profile, develop new business and grow with the office rather than simply slotting into a large existing structure.
The opportunity
This is a junior Account Executive position with a clear new business focus.
You will be expected to build relationships across the London property market, create opportunities through networking, referrals and direct prospecting, and gradually develop your own portfolio of clients.
You will have experienced brokers around you to support placement and technical work, so the role is not about being left to figure everything out alone. The expectation is that you bring energy, commercial awareness and a genuine appetite to build relationships, while continuing to develop your technical capability and confidence as an Executive.
What the role looks like
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing new real estate and property insurance opportunities across London.
- Building relationships with property owners, managing agents, developers and other professionals within the sector.
- Creating and managing your own pipeline through networking, referrals and targeted business development.
- Meeting prospective clients to understand their businesses, assets and insurance requirements.
- Working with experienced broking colleagues to structure and place suitable insurance programmes.
- Presenting proposals and supporting negotiations with prospective clients.
- Building long-term relationships with clients once business has been won.
- Identifying opportunities to broaden existing relationships across additional commercial covers.
- Developing your own market profile as the London operation continues to grow.
Who this could suit
- You could currently be working as a Junior Account Executive, Commercial Account Handler, Client Advisor or Broker and be ready to move into a more development-focused position.
- Previous real estate or property insurance experience is important. You should already understand the fundamentals of risks such as property owners, residential or commercial portfolios, managing agents, blocks of flats or development-related exposures.
- You do not need to arrive with a large book of business, but you will need the confidence and motivation to create your own opportunities. This will suit someone who enjoys meeting people, building a network and developing relationships rather than someone looking for a purely servicing-based role.
The business
- You will be joining an established independent brokerage with particular strength in real estate and commercial insurance, supported by experienced and professionally qualified insurance specialists.
- The London operation represents a significant growth opportunity for the business, so joining at this stage should give you greater visibility and scope to develop than you might find within a mature regional office.
- For an ambitious junior Executive, the appeal is the chance to learn from experienced insurance professionals while helping establish and grow a newer London presence.
Package and working pattern
- The salary is around £50,000 depending on experience, alongside a wider benefits and incentive package.
- The role is based in London with an expectation of three days per week in the office, alongside time spent meeting clients, prospects and professional contacts.
The next step
If you already have real estate insurance experience and want to make the move towards a genuine Account Executive career, particularly within a growing London operation, it would be worth a confidential conversation.
I can talk you through the level of new business expected, the support available and how the London team is being developed before you decide whether you want to take things any further.
