- Description
If you are an experienced Commercial Account Executive who has built your career around looking after clients properly, this gives you something increasingly difficult to find: established books of business to inherit, strong internal support and enough commercial freedom to develop those relationships further.
Based in South London, the role offers a salary of £55,000-£70,000 depending on experience, alongside a strong bonus structure. You will join an established commercial insurance broking team with a substantial existing client base and the resources to support experienced Executives who want to spend their time with clients rather than carrying an unnecessary administrative burden.
The opportunity
The immediate attraction is the client portfolio. You will inherit existing commercial insurance clients rather than being asked to build a viable book entirely from scratch, giving you a strong platform from which to develop your position.
There will still be an expectation that you identify new opportunities, retain clients and grow income over time, but the role suits an Account Executive who believes growth should come through strong relationships, referrals, networking and good commercial advice.
For somebody who is already performing well but wants access to a broader client base, better infrastructure or a more rewarding bonus structure, there is a credible reason to have the conversation.
What the role involves
You will take responsibility for managing and developing a portfolio of commercial clients, supported by experienced broking and account handling colleagues.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Inheriting and managing established books of commercial insurance clients.
- Building strong relationships with business owners, directors and senior decision-makers.
- Leading renewal discussions and making sure client insurance programmes continue to reflect changing exposures.
- Working with broking and account handling colleagues to secure appropriate terms and cover.
- Identifying cross-selling, referral and new business opportunities across your client portfolio.
- Developing new relationships through your existing market network, introductions and wider business activity.
- Maintaining productive relationships with insurers and using those relationships to achieve strong outcomes for clients.
- Taking a commercial approach to retention, portfolio development and profitable growth.
Who this role could suit
- You are likely to be an established Commercial Account Executive, Senior Account Executive or Account Director with a solid background in UK commercial insurance broking.
- You will already be comfortable managing client relationships and discussing a range of commercial insurance risks. Experience across areas such as property, liability, motor fleet, combined, construction, manufacturing or professional risks could all be relevant depending on the make-up of your existing portfolio.
- The key is that you understand how to retain and develop commercial clients and can operate credibly with senior decision-makers.
- You may already have a good book where you are and be reasonably well looked after. This role is therefore unlikely to appeal simply because another broker is hiring. The case for moving comes from the combination of inherited clients, earning potential, internal support and the opportunity to build something larger without having to start again.
Why consider it?
- The business has the scale, insurer relationships and technical resources to support experienced Account Executives while still giving them room to manage relationships in a personal and commercially sensible way.
- There is also genuine scope to increase your earnings. Alongside the £55,000-£70,000 basic salary, the bonus structure rewards growth and performance, giving successful Executives the opportunity to build meaningfully on their base salary.
- Hybrid working provides further flexibility while keeping you connected to the South London team and the people supporting your portfolio.
